Together, we’re breaking barriers, uplifting communities, and creating opportunities for a brighter, more equitable future.
Fursa Foundation was born out of a shared vision among young medical doctors to create a healthier, more equitable future for women and girls in Tanzania. Our journey began in 2021, and since then, we’ve been working tirelessly to empower underserved communities and transform lives.
Officially registered as a community-based organization, focusing on menstrual hygiene, women’s empowerment, and gender equality.
We initiated the WASH Program, distributing reusable sanitary pads and providing menstrual hygiene education to hundreds of girls in Mwanza.
Introduced entrepreneurship and digital skills training through our Women Empowerment Program, reaching more than 300 women.
Our Ending Gender-Based Violence program now works with youths, schools, and local leaders to promote respect and equality, impacting thousands of lives.
We envision a world where gender equality is the norm, where no girl misses school due to lack of menstrual hygiene products, and where women have the skills and opportunities to achieve their dreams.
To create a positive impact in our communities through multisectoral involvement, providing essential resources, education, and support to help women and girls reach their full potential.”
A healthy, responsible, and productive community where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive.”
Our values—unity, passion, innovation, equality, and development—guide everything we do. They shape our programs, partnerships, and engagement with our community.

At Fursa Foundation, our work goes beyond providing resources; it’s about creating meaningful, long-term change in the lives of women and girls across Tanzania.
We’re committed to breaking the barriers that prevent girls from attending school and participating fully in their communities due to a lack of menstrual hygiene products.
Through our WASH Program, we have not only provided reusable sanitary pads but also educated young girls on menstrual health, helping them regain confidence and dignity.
Empowerment is at the heart of everything we do. Through training in entrepreneurship, digital skills, and financial literacy, we’re equipping women with the tools they need to become self-reliant and economically independent.
This program has helped many women start their own businesses, turning dreams into reality
We believe that every woman and girl has the right to live free from violence and fear.
Through awareness campaigns, workshops, and support services, we’re working to change attitudes, promote gender equality, and create safer environments for women and girls.
We are dedicated to empowering adolescents, young women, and underserved communities through initiatives that promote menstrual hygiene, women’s entrepreneurship, and gender equality.
